Digital infrastructures have yielded countless opportunities for citizens in industrialized societies to engage in public discourse. The increased politicization of social media platform has brought with it the rise of right wing-populism and might be one reason for the increasing polarisation between supporters of left and right-wing parties.
This research project aims to highlight the ways discussions take place and opinions are formed to increase understanding of how opposing views are formed and transformed within the discourses taking place among youth politicians (of at least two ‘opposing’ political parties) and to what extent their way of discussion differ or are similar to one another. The research further aims to bring forth in what ways the politicians and their followers are portraying their political counterparts and their followers.
